Mint can be used fresh, dried, brewed as a tea, or applied to the skin. However, mint may also have some potential risks, such as allergic reactions or interactions with certain medications. Therefore, it is advisable to consult with your doctor before using mint as a supplement or remedy.



In addition to its medicinal properties, mint is also used in a variety of culinary dishes. It is commonly used to flavor teas, desserts, and sauces. Mint is also used in Middle Eastern, Indian, and North African cuisines to flavor savory dishes such as lamb and couscous.


Mint Tea


Mint tea is a refreshing and soothing drink that can be enjoyed hot or cold. It is made with fresh or dried mint leaves, water, and honey or sugar. Here is one possible recipe:

  • In a small saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. You can also use a kettle or microwave to heat the water.

  • Add 2 tablespoons of dried mint leaves or 4 fresh mint leaves to the boiling water. You can use any kind of mint you like, such as peppermint, spearmint, or chocolate mint.

Mint Tincture:

A mint tincture is a liquid extract of mint that can be used for various purposes, such as flavoring drinks, making herbal remedies, or adding a refreshing scent to your home. A mint tincture is made by soaking fresh or dried mint leaves in alcohol for several weeks, until the alcohol extracts the flavor and aroma of the mint. Here is one possible recipe:

  • In a small glass jar, combine 1 cup of fresh or ½ cup of dried mint leaves with 1 ½ to 2 cups of vodka (any vodka will work). You can use any kind of mint you like, such as peppermint, spearmint, or chocolate mint.

  • Shake the jar well and store it in a cool, dark place for at least one month. Shake the jar occasionally to mix the contents.

  • After one month, strain the liquid into another clean glass jar and discard the leaves. You can also use a fine mesh strainer if you prefer.

  • Label the jar with the name and date of your mint tincture and store it in a cool, dark place.
